Trump blasts Biden-Harris admin for giving ‘slap on the wrist’ to would-be assassin Ryan Routh—says Florida should ‘handle the case’

President Donald Trump sent an email to supporters on Monday, stating that he was appalled by the "slap on the wrist" given to Ryan Routh, a man who camped out near Trump's golf course in West Palm Beach, armed with a long rifle and scope, in hopes of assassinating the 45th and potentially 47th president. It was the second attempt on Trump's life in just two months, with the first coming in Butler, PA on July 13. That shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was killed by Secret Service after he fired several rounds. One clipped Trump on the side of the head, taking a chunk out of his ear, while the others killed one man and injured two others.

"The Kamala Harris/Joe Biden Department of Justice and FBI are mishandling and downplaying the second assassination attempt on my life since July," Trump wrote in an email to supporters. "The charges brought against the maniac assassin are a slap on the wrist. It’s no wonder, since the DOJ and FBI have been coming after me nonstop with Weaponized Lawfare since I announced my first Historic Campaign for the Presidency."

Routh was charged with two federal gun counts. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has vowed to do a state-level investigation and said that the charge of attempted murder would be on the table. DeSantis has said that it's absurd for the FBI, which is also prosecuting Trump, to be tasked with investigating the violence against him.
