Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday said President Joe Biden's stop-off at the U.S.-Mexico border this weekend — Biden's first trip there in the two years since his election  — was a visit to the border that he destroyed. 

"Biden's open border policies are a deadly betrayal of our nation," Trump said in a release through his 2024 presidential campaign, which outlined his achievements on immigration while slamming Biden's moves to abolish several of Trump's policies.

"President Trump will wage war on the cartels and create the strongest border in history, just like we had two years ago," the release said. "President Trump built 450 miles of new border wall system, ended catch and release, rooted out asylum fraud, combated human smuggling, forged historic asylum agreements with Northern Triangle countries, and deployed nearly 5,000 troops to the Southern Border."

The release came after Trump last week presented his plans for dealing with the border, including a call to impose a full navel embargo to stop cartels from smuggling narcotics into the U.S.
