State Department of Health releases statement on flesh-eating bacteria

The State Department of Health has released a statement regarding cases in the panhandle of flesh-eating bacteria.

One person in Bay County died, and in Walton County, another was infected with Vibrio Vulnificus, according to the Florida Department of Health. FDOH says there have been 11 total cases and four deaths in Florida this year. 

Since NewsChannel 7 brought you the news last week, we’ve asked the agency questions, but we haven’t been getting many answers.

We’ve inquired about the locations where the cases were reported in the two counties and whether there is still a threat to the community.
