Florida's Republican Governor Ron DeSantis made multiple stops in Iowa Saturday, including one at a venue a few miles away from a scheduled rally President Trump canceled over weather concerns.
"Governing is not about entertaining. Governing is not about building a brand or taking on social media and virtue signaling. It's ultimately about winning and about producing results," DeSantis said in remarks at picnic fundraiser in Sioux Center for U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Iowa).
Other high profile Iowa Republicans showing their appreciation for DeSantis included Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds (R) and Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa).
While DeSantis was out meeting and greeting potential voters dotting the Hawkeye State, former President Trump canceled his event in the capitol city of Des Moines over concerns about the weather.
"Tornado Watch in Iowa. For safety of our great Patriots, we have been asked to delay or cancel today’s sold out rally. I am near the Palm Beach Airport, ready to go, but we are on hold because of the very bad weather in Iowa. Please seek shelter or safe haven!" Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social just ahead of the rally.
