Chuck Schumer told Joe Biden it would be better for country if he dropped out: report

UPDATE: Chuck Schumer's office said of ABC's report, "Unless ABC’s source is Senator Chuck Schumer or President Joe Biden, the reporting is idle speculation. Leader Schumer conveyed the views of his caucus directly to President Biden on Saturday."

It has been revealed that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) reportedly told Joe Biden it would be better for the country if he dropped out of the race. ABC News' Jonathan Karl said that the New York senator pleaded with the president during a one-on-one meeting between the two in Delaware on Saturday.

When pressed by Karl, Schumer's office did not deny any of what he claimed had been said, with a spokesperson only noting that "Leader Schumer conveyed the views of his caucus."

"I am told that the pressure from Democratic leaders for Biden to get out of the race has intensified," Karl said. "One person who has been out there publicly defending Biden told me just a short while ago Biden is going to see the whole house of cards come down soon."
