BREAKING: 2 FDNY chiefs who retired under Eric Adams arrested on bribery charges: report

Two former New York City Fire Department fire chiefs were arrested on Monday as part of a corruption probe from the federal government, according to a report from the New York Times.

Anthony Saccavino as well as Brian Cordasco, were arrested on bribery, corruption, and false statements charges, according to the New York Post.

This comes amid other federal probes into the New York City government. Last week, NYC Police Commissioner Edward Caban resigned following an FBI raid of his home. Several other officials connected to NYC Mayor Eric Adams also had their homes searched. People with knowledge of the matter told the Times that the two former fire chiefs have been accused of taking over $100,000 in bribes to expedite safety inspections. The feds searched the homes of Cordasco and Saccavino in February. According to the New York Daily News, they were put on modified assignments following the searches.
