Biden’s $7.5 Billion Plan to Build 500,000 Electric Vehicle Chargers Has Produced Just 8 Chargers So Far

As one saying about government inefficiency goes; if you put the federal government in charge of the Sahara Desert, within five years there’d be a shortage of sand.

In the case of the Biden administration’s electric vehicle agenda, it’s been learned that after an incredible $7.5 billion in federal funds were allocated in late 2021 to help develop electric vehicle charging stations nationwide, it’s so far produced only eight stations of its 500,000 goal. 

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was pressed on this during a recent appearance on CBS’ Face the Nation, and, in a rarity, gave a response so absurd even the left-leaning host laughed in his face.

CBS’ Margaret Brennan asked; “Let me ask you about a portion of this that I think does fall under your portfolio, and that's the charging stations you mentioned. The Federal Highway Administration says only seven or eight charging stations have been produced with a $7.5 billion investment that taxpayers made back in 2021. Why isn't that happening more quickly?”

“So, the president's goal is to have half a million chargers up by the end of this decade. Now, in order to do a charger, it's more than just plunking a small device into the ground. There's utility work and this is also really a new category of federal investment. But we've been working with each of the 50 states. Every one of them is getting formula dollars to do this work, engaging them in the first handful -”
