Kamala Harris offers concerns for needs of women in Gaza amid Israel-Hamas conflict

In a new interview, when Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris was asked about Israel’s war against Palestinian terrorists, she responded by talking about the needs of women in Gaza, including cooking and menstrual products.

Over the weekend, The Nation published an interview with the vice president who may end up becoming the Democratic nominee for president in 2024. In the piece, which heaped praise on Biden’s VP, the outlet wrote that Harris “has gotten credit for being a step ahead of the president in her public statements, criticizing Israel’s relentless bombardment and the resulting humanitarian crisis in Gaza with an eloquent anguish Biden has not matched.”

When the author of the piece, Joan Walsh, asked Harris about the difference in “tone” between her and Biden regarding the conflict, Harris responded, “Listen, I strongly believe that our ability to evaluate a situation is connected to understanding the details of that situation. Not speaking of myself versus the president, not at all.”

“From the beginning, I asked questions,” Harris continued. “OK, the trucks are taking flour into Gaza. But here’s the thing, Joan: I like to cook. So I said to my team, ‘You can’t make sh*t with flour if you don’t have clean water. So what’s going on with that?’ I ask questions like, ‘What are people actually eating right now? I’m hearing stories about their eating animal feed, grass,’ so that’s how I think about it.”
