Harris super PAC founder says inner polling worse for Kamala than public numbers

On Monday, the founder of a Kamala Harris super PAC said that the many public polls showing the vice president as more favorable than former President Donald Trump are not as accurate as its inner polling. Chauncey McLean, president of Future Forward, a super political action committee, warned that VP Harris must win key battleground states to defeat Trump, which he described as toss-ups between both candidates based on current polling data.

"Our numbers are much less rosy than what you're seeing in the public," said McLean while speaking at an event hosted by the University of Chicago Institute of Politics, Reuters reports.

Future Forward, which has raised hundreds of millions of dollars for Harris's presidential campaign, created a massive internal polling operation to gain proper knowledge of how Harris stacks up against Trump. This has included testing 500 digital and TV ads for Biden, 200 for Harris, and polling at least 375,000 Americans since July 22.

While some polling shows Harris climbing above Trump, and reportedly "reshaping" a race that Trump was favored to win before President Biden's exit, McLean said that while he believes Harris has "multiple paths" to victory, the race is still "as tight as ever."
